It is not surprising that the most recent version of Arturia’s small MIDI machine would improve upon the previous model given the company’s unrivaled commitment to synthesizer research and creation. The MiniLab 3 Black maintains the 25-key layout, has a slim profile, and weighs slightly more than 1.5kg. Two capacitive touch sensors are part of an ergonomic design factor that control modulation and pitch, respectively. Two banks of eight touch- and pressure-sensitive pads with a total of 16 completely assignable, RGB-backlit slots are divided into these two banks. Four top-notch sliders and eight rotary encoders work together to support a variety of control schemes. The 500 presets in the MiniLab 3 Black can now be modified in real time thanks to a new small display with a clickable browsing knob.
